− | However, if you don't know LaTeX, there is an easy way to write a formula for the Wiki without knowing any LaTeX. The Microsoft Word 2007 Formular editor uses LaTeX internally. That means, if you write your formular using Microsoft Word 2007 or later and then copy and paste the formular into the Wiki, it will appear as LaTeX code in the wiki. <br>

If you want to enter a formula into an article, this can be done in WikiText using the <math> tag.
The Wikitext code for an example formula looks like this:
<math>\operatorname{erfc}(x) =
\frac{2}{\sqrt{\pi}} \int_x^{\infty} e^{-t^2}\,dt =
\frac{e^{-x^2}}{x\sqrt{\pi}}\sum_{n=0}^\infty (-1)^n \frac{(2n)!}{n!(2x)^{2n}}</math>
What you see is:
- The overall formula needs to be enclosed by tags.
- The formular itself is written in (rather complicated to understand for first-time users) LaTeX code
