Energypedia is a wiki platform where you can write, create, revise and disseminate articles on technologies and approaches related to renewable energy and energy efficiency with regard to development aid. It helps to optimize knowledge exchange and joint work on renewable energies in developing countries among its users around the world. By working together the users make sure that the relevant contents concerning renewable energies in development aid are represented in the wiki and are revised regularly. Consequently, by using energypedia you are quickly updated by reading the relevant "wiki articles".
Energypedia aims at a better integration of expert knowledge in order to support a knowledge transfer: functioning approaches to rural electrification are documented and can be discussed and further developed with relevant actors coming from the partner governments, the civil society, the private industry and energy experts. Furthermore, separate areas in the wiki can be used as trans-regional working platform for knowledge and project management.

In May 2010 energypedia received the GTZ quality award highlighting the efforts to provide quality information to the energy community. This success is underlined by the growing number of users: In July 2011 more than 1.400 energy experts were registered on energypedia contributing to more than 500 wiki articles about renewable energy technologies and their impacts.
In August 2011 another big milestone was reached when energypedia opened to the general public making all articles readable without prior registration.
